Elias – International Student

Tell me about yourself…
I was born in Melbourne almost 20 years ago and moved to Costa Rica when I was two. My father is from Costa Rica and my mother is from Australia. She went to Costa Rica as an exchange student and met my dad and then the whole big love story, soap-opera ensued after that and… here I am.
I came back to Australia because I’m an artist. I draw, paint, sculpt and play a little bit of music. At 16 I was a very bad student and was going down the wrong path. To try to set me on the right path my mum told me that there was a really great school in Melbourne called VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) that would suit me. She told me that if I wanted to get in I should do the International Baccalaureate which is a very rigorous program. We went to see the teacher in my school who ran the international program. I promised him that I would become a good student and get into the top three of my class. I worked hard and I achieved that goal and got accepted into VCA a month ago.
